PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture the recording material by coating this material with an aqueous coating composition containing no gelatin or a small amount of gelatin at a high speed and to solidify it immediately. ;SOLUTION: This recording material comprises a support and at least one photosensitive layer containing a thickening agent composed of an anionic macoromolecular electrolyte and a synthetic clay and a small amount of gelatin (in the case of a silver halide photographic sensitive material) in an weight ration of gelatin to silver halide (shown as an equivalent of silver nitrate) of 0.05-0.4, (or no gelatin in the case of a photothermoigraphy and a support and a heat sensitive layer).
