PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-solid-content coating compsn. which is physically dried quickly and chemically cross-linked quickly by using a specific hydroxyl- functional copolymer. SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding 40-95 pts.wt. copolymer obtd. from 0.1-10 pts.wt. polybutadiene having a number average mol.wt. of 500-10,000 and a 1,2-vinyl group content of 20%, 5-30 pts.wt. 8-16C aliph, -olefin, 0.1-35 pts.wt. 4-30C -alkylalkanemonocarboxylic acid glycidyl ester, 10-70 pts.wt. unsatd. arom. monomer, 5-60 pts.wt. prim-hydroxyl-contg. hydroxyalkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid, 0-50 pts.wt. 1-12C (cyclo)aliph. ester of (meth)acrylic acid, 0.1-20 pts.wt. 3-7C , -monoolefinically unsatd. mono- or dicarboxylic acid and/or 1-14C half ester of maleic or fumaric acid, and 0-30 pts.wt. olefinic unsatd. compd. with 5-60 pts.wt. polyfunctional cross-linking resin, 1-30wt.% of the hydroxyl groups of the compsn. are secondary.
