Bis (hydroxyalkyl) preparation of macrocyclic poly (alkylene dicarboxylate) oligomers from dicarboxylate

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound in high yield by reacting a dicarboxylic acid chloride with a bis(hydroxyalkyl) ester in a substantially inert organic solvent in specific production processes. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective product is obtained by bringing (A) a dicarboxylic acid chloride of formula I (wherein A represents a divalent cycloaromatic group bonded to m- or p-position, an aliphatic group, preferably m- or p-phenylene) into contact for reaction with (B) almost equivalent mole of a bis(hydroxyalkyl) ester of formula II (wherein R represents a 2-8C alkylene, or a mono- or polyoxyalkylene, preferably ethylene, 1,4-butylene; (n) is 1 to 5, preferably 1 to 3), preferably at a temperature of 20 to 65°C, in a substantially inert solvent (preferably methylene chloride, chlorobenzen) and in the presence of a stericaly unhindered tertiary amine (preferably hexamethylenetetramine or the like).
