PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for detecting color contamination in producing multi-color printed matter so that the color contamination is detected surely. ;SOLUTION: A main color density value and sub-color density value are detected in a measuring place printed in colors without contamination, a main color density value and a sub-color density value are detected in each color similarly in a printed sample to be examined, a difference is formed between corresponding sub-color density values, and the corresponding sub-ink density values of colors without contamination are estimated according to a functional relationship of values belonging to the main color density values of the printed sample.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
