PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber drawing device capable of suppressing the vibration of a drawing tower body and preventing the degradation in the quality of an optical fiber and the disconnection thereof. ;SOLUTION: This optical fiber drawing device is mounted with a damping device 2 for actively suppressing the vibration on the uppermost part of the drawing tower body 1. The optical fiber preform 4 is heated and the optical fiber 5 is drawn out in the drawing furnace 3. After a coating is formed in a coating device 6, the direction is changed by a pulley 7 and is taken off by a capstan, thereafter, the optical fiber is taken up by a takeup machine. The vibration of the drawing power body 1 is suppressed by the damping device 2, by which the vibration of the optical fiber preform 4 and the optical fiber 5 is suppressed and the fluctuation in the outside diameter of the optical fiber 5 is prevented. While a sensor for detecting the vibration may be disposed integrally in the position of the damping device 2, the sensor may also be disposed in another position.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
