PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a ligand, etc., of a new ruthenium complex quickly absorbable nitrogen by reacting N,N- dimethylglycine ester with 1,3-propanediamine, reducing, acylating and further reducing the resultant compound. ;SOLUTION: The objective new 2,12-dimethyl-5,9-dihydrocarbon 2,5,9,12- tetraazatridecane expressed by formula IV and useful as a ligand, etc., of a new ruthenium tertiary polyamine complex of formula III having nitrogen fixability is obtained by reacting an N,N-dimethylglycine ester with 1,3- propanediamine to obtain a new 2,12-dimethyl-4,10-dioxo-2,5,9,12-tetraazatridecane of formula I, reducing the resultant compound to obtain a new 2,12- dimethyl-2,5,9,12-tetraazatridecane, reacting the compound with a carboxylic anhydride to obtain a new 2,12-dimethyl-5,9-bisacyl-2,5,9,12-tetraazatridecane of formula II (R is a hydrocarbon), and then reducing the resultant compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
