PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the surface ripple marks of a stainless steel by the almost one pass polishing, and obtain the specific surface roughness with high workability, by specifying the abrasive grain rate, the binder rate, and the porosity. ;SOLUTION: The abrasive grain of white alundum WA is dispersed into PVA, to increase the grain rate to improve the polishing capacity. But the abrasive grain is made to be sufficiently held by the binder, because the dropping of the abrasive grain is increased when the balance between the abrasive grain and the binder is lost, which prevents the effective polishing by the fixed abrasive grain. The binder having the high grasping force, is selected, and the binder percentage is adjusted to obtain the optimum and maximum polishing capacity. Further it is unnecessary to increase the pores, so that the loading and the lowering of the surface quality can be prevented. That is, the surface can be effectively polished and finished by the small number of times of the polishing, by keeping 25-33 volume % of the grain rate, 17-28 volume % of the binder rate, and 45-54 volume % of the porosity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
