PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial germicidal or bacteriostatic agent that has an increased synergistic germicidal effect, and does not lessen the effect particularly in reducing environment by a combination of known germicides. ;SOLUTION: This industrial germicidal or bacteriostatic agent, which is particularly useful for water used for papermaking processes in paper and pulp industry in which slime trouble directly affects product quality, contains 2,2-dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide (DBNPA), a bromoacetic ester and 2-bromo-2- nitro-1,3-diacetoxypropane (MAC) or 2,2-dibromo-2-nitroethanol (DBNE) in the form of three components at least when actually used. The effect of this industrial germicidal and bacteriostatic agent is not lessened even in an environmental condition where, for example, a reducing substance of 5mg/L or more as sulfite ion is present, has improved continuity of the effect, and develops an effect that prolongs the proliferation control duration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
