CASTING REFRACTORY COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING COMPACT AMORPHOUS REFRACTORY AND ITS WET SPRAY APPLICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refractory composition not containing a cement and useful for obtaining compact amorphous refractories low in water content and having high density, strength and corrosion resistance by adding a prescribed amount of a dispersing agent to the mixture of a refractory aggregate having a specific particle diameter with refractory superfine powder. ;SOLUTION: This refractory composition comprises 70-98 outer wt.%, preferably 75-98 outer wt.%, of a refractory aggregate (e.g. electromelted alumina, silicon carbide and pitch) adjusted into a particle diameter of ≤10mm, 2-30 outer wt.%, preferably 5-245 outer wt.%, of refractory superfine powder (e.g. the superfine powder of alumina, amorphous silica or carbon black), and a dispersing agent (e.g. sodium hexametaphosphate) in an amount of 0.01-1.0 outer wt.%, especially 0.03-0.8 outer wt.%, per 100 outer wt.% of the total amount of the refractory aggregate and the refractory superfine powder. The composition is kneaded with water or its kneaded liquid to adjust to the workability of casting consistency. The adjusted kneaded product is forcefully fed into a spraying nozzle, mixed with compressed air and a flocculating agent and subsequently sprayed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
