CATAPLASM FOR STIFF SHOULDER AND FROZEN SHOULDER SYNDROME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cataplasm for stiff shoulder and frozen shoulder syndrome which contains a specific amount of lidocaine (or its salt) in an ointment bace, develops marked treatment effect on stiff shoulder and frozen shoulder syndrome and is also useful as a nonproprietary drug. ;SOLUTION: This cataplasm contains 0.5-5wt.%, preferably 0.5-2wt.% of lidocaine or its salt in its ointment base. As a salt of lidocaine, its hydrochloride can be cited. The cataplasm is in the form of tapes, poultice and the like. A tape preparation is produced, for example, by admixing lidocaine or its salt to an acrylic ester tacky agent to prepare an ointment and applying the ointment to a flexible substrate such as polyolefin film. A poultice is prepared, for example, by admixing lidocaine or its salt to an adhesive mainly comprising a water-soluble polymer of high water retention such as methlcellulose or its salt and spreading the mixture on the substrate such as nonwoven fabric and covering the ointment surface with a plastic film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
