Pharmaceutical prepns. for treating and preventing radical-induced cell damage contain 17- alpha -oestradiol or its derivs. or esters of 17- alpha -oestradiol or their derivs. or phyto-oestrogens with reduced oestrogen activity. Pref. the phyto-oestrogen has the 17- alpha configuration and is non-steroidal.
