PURPOSE:To decrease false analyses by applying individual rules which describe individual language phenomena to the arrangement of words, selecting or deleting candidates and after that, determining the arrangement of words regarded as right. CONSTITUTION:A morpheme analyzer is equipped with an input device 1, an output device 2 and a processor 3 having kinds of tables storing information. The processor 3 uses a word dictionary 7 storing pairs of the notation of the words and part-of-speech information and a connection table 10 storing inter- word connection information, divides a Japanese sentence into all possible arrangements of words and selects only one out of these divided arrangements of words. In that case, the individual rules in an individual rule group 12a which describe the individual language phenomena are applied to the arrangements of words, the candidates are selected or deleted, after that, general rules in a general rule group 12b are applied and the arrangement of words regarded as right is determined.
