PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monolithic alumina-spinel refractory having further excellent slag infiltration resistance compared with conventional refractory and imparted with thermal spalling resistance by the residual expansion after heating. ;SOLUTION: This monolithic refractory is composed of ≥1wt.% and 5wt.% of fine spinel powder having particle diameter of ≤75μm wherein the content of ultrafine spinel powder of ≤5μm diameter is 1wt.%, 2-20wt.% of alumina cement, 15-40wt.% of fine alumina powder having particle diameter of ≤0.3mm and the remaining part consisting of alumina raw material having particle diameter of 0.3mm and ≤8mm. The refractory may be compounded with ≤60wt.% of an alumina-rich spinel raw material having particle diameter of ≥1mm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
