PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently emulate a target machine on a base machine by using the OS and BIOS for the base machine. ;SOLUTION: The virtual computer emulator which run an AP, operating on a target machine having different architecture, on the base machine emulates the operation of the AP by using an S/W interruption emulator when the AP issues function calls to the OS and BIOS for the target machine, a target machine display control part or base machine peripheral device control part when the AP issues I/O instructions to the peripheral controller of the target machine, or the OS and BIOS of the base machine when the AP issues memory access instructions to an interruption vector table for the target machine and the data area of the BIOS.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
