PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain musou Paramecium bursaria efficiently in a short time without aging of strains by culturing Paramecium bursaria in the presence of a herbicide, paraquat dichloride, in a quantity capable of destroying endosymbiont algae in a culture medium inoculated with a bacterium. ;SOLUTION: This musou Paramecium bursaria is obtained with sufficient reproducibility, without a fear of aging and also without need of large-scale equipment by culturing a ciliate, Paramecium bursaria, in a quantity capable of destroying endosymbiont algae in the presence of a herbicide, paraquat dichloride, of a permissible viable dose of 10³-10⁵μg/l in a culture medium inoculated with a bacterium (for example, Klebsiella pneumoniae, etc.) for a culturing period of at least 15 days.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
