PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ticket examining system which can print characters on a ticket medium in a plurality of colors so that the medium can become visually distinguishable without increasing the used amount of articles of consumption and.a ticket issuing machine, an adjustment machine, and a ticket examining machine incorporated in the system. ;SOLUTION: A ticket examining system uses a ticket medium carrying a plurality of heat-sensitive layers containing different coloring components. For example, an issuing section 331 incorporated in an adjustment machine is provided with a issuing section control circuit 40 which controls the entire body of the section 331 and a driving section 402 which applies a driving voltage across a thermal head 404 is connected to the circuit 400. When a normal passenger ticket is issued from a ticket issuing machine, the first heat-sensitive layer of the medium is colored and characters are printed with a first chromatic component. When the normal passenger ticket is thrown in the adjustment machine for adjustment, information indicating that the adjustment has been made is printed with a second chromatic component by coloring a second heat- sensitive layer after a prescribed adjustment process is executed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
