SYSTEM STARTING METHOD FOR MINIATURIZED ELECTRONIC COMPUTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate the exchange or reload of an EPROM or a flash ROM in the case of changing a BIOS and to easily exchange the BIOS by reserving an area dedicated to the BIOS in the prescribed area of a hard disk provided on a storage device. ;SOLUTION: First of all, when the power source switch of a personal computer is turned on, a reset signal is applied to a CPU 3 and an instruction is executed while jumping to a reset vector in the manner of software. Besides, minimum processing until moving control to the hard disk of a hard disk drive(HHD) 7 is stored in a non-volatile memory such as EPROM 8 or flash ROM 9 provided on a storage means 5. The BIOS to be stored in this memory is limited to irreducibly minimum contents only. Then, the fixed capacity (about 1MB) of the HHD 7 is reserved as the area dedicated to the BIOS, and set so as not to be watched at the time or usual access or so as to be dedicated to read.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
