PURPOSE:To provide a building construction method and an elevation device to be used for this construction method for constructing the uppermost floor of a building on the ground first, and pressing it up by use of a jack for constructing the other floors under the uppermost floor. CONSTITUTION:The uppermost floor 2 of a building to be constructed is constructed on the ground, where a roof crane 10, a ceiling crane 8, and an elevation device 5 for elevating the uppermost floor part taking a firstly constructed building core for a support point are installed temporarily. The uppermost floor 2 is moved up to a predetermined height by this elevation device 5, and processes of constructing building core parts 1a and wing parts 1b by use of the ceiling jib crane 10 and the ceiling crane 8 are repeated, so that building is constructed securing a safe floor construction work space.
