PURPOSE:To efficiently and continuously calcine minium by continuously supplying the powder of PbO and the powder of Pb as well as minium or the powder of mixture of minium and PbO simultaneously from the inlet end of a rotary reaction furnace, and advancing them gradually to the other end of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The powder of PbO and the powder of Pb are continuously supplied from a charging port 4 of the rotary reaction furnace 1 and advanced gradually to the product take-out port of the other end. In this case, minium (Pb3O4) or the mixture (b) of minium and PbO is simultaneously supplied with the above-mentioned raw powder from a supply opening 5 of the reaction furnace 1. When minium is produced from the raw lead powder by using the above- mentioned device, the raw material consisting of about 60-90% PbO and the balance lead powder is used as the raw material lead power (a). In this case, the larger the amount of the mixture powder (b) is to the amount of the raw material lead powder, the higher the yield of minium becomes, but this effect is saturated when the rate exceeds a specified value.
