PURPOSE:To obtain the subject artificial fish reef composed of a formed material of a silicate material containing an oxycarboxylic acid, capable of preventing predation by herbivorous animals such as a sea urchin or an ear shell and facilitating growth of seaweeds such as a tangle and a wakame seaweed and useful as an algal reef or a fish reef. CONSTITUTION:This artificial fish reef is composed of a formed material of a silicate material containing an oxycarboxylic acid (malic acid, citric acid, etc.). As the formed material of a silicate material, e.g. a mortal or a concrete cured after adding an oxycarboxylic acid is used and the oxycarboxylic acid contained in the block is gradually released into the sea water so as to prevent predation by herbivorous animals.
