PURPOSE: To shorten the display processing time by reducing the memory capacity for the rainfall data. ;CONSTITUTION: The rainfall data at various places from a rainfall radar are arranged on a lattice 3, the lattice 3 is divided into blocks having a fixed size, block numbers are assigned to them, the presence of rainfall is investigated for individual blocks, the block numbers of the blocks having nonzero rainfall data are registered on a retrieval table 6, and the rainfall data of the blocks are stored in a memory 4.
