PURPOSE:To obtain the title additive which prevents the adhesion of a deposit to the fuel system of an internal combustion engine and enables the deposit to be removed by wasing even if adhered, by mixing a specified (un)saturated fatty acid and an amine. CONSTITUTION:10-90wt.% 8-40C, preferably 12-22C, (un)saturated fatty acid (e.g. oleic acid) is mixed with 90-10wt.% amine (e.g. butylamine) and, if necessary, an antioxidant, a rust preventive, a corrosion inhibitor, a bactericide, etc., thus giving the title additive. 1 pt.wt. of this additive, dissolved in 0.1-10 pts.wt. solvent if necessary, is added to a methanol fuel containing at least 70vol.% methanol so as to provide an additive content of 0.001-5wt.%.
