PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a polarized capacitor from being attached in the opposite direction by giving a checking function that can judge that a capacitor is attached in the opposite direction to a device for determining polarity of polarized capacitor. ;SOLUTION: A light emitting device is constituted by connecting a light emitting diode 1 in parallel with a polarized capacitor 4 between a positive electrode 3P and a negative electrode 3N in such a polarity direction that the diode 1 does not emit light when a plus voltage is impressed upon the positive electrode 3P of the capacitor, but emits light when the plus voltage is impressed upon the negative electrode 3N. A current limiting resistor 5 is a resistor which protects the diode 1 by limiting the direct current flowing to the diode 1. When the capacitor 4 is properly mounted, no current flows to the diode 1 and the diode 1 does not emit light even when power supply is made. However, when the capacitor 4 is reversely mounted, the diode 1 emits light and the light emitting state of the diode 1 can be confirmed through a light emitting diode window 31.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
