PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilizing efficiency of a subscriber line and to reduce the utility charge of the subscriber line by connecting non-procedural terminal equipments with different codes and different character check methods to one subscriber line in mixture. ;SOLUTION: A communication system is made up of a data transmission reception controller 1, a subscriber line 2, a packet exchange network 3, various non-procedural terminal equipments 4, 5, a host computer 6, and a packet assembly/disassembly function device 7. Code and character check systems and identifier corresponding to them of the various non-procedural terminal equipments 4, 5 used for the communication system are registered by number of combinations of the code and character check systems. In the case of connection to the non-procedural terminal equipments 4, 5, a terminal operator enters the identifier corresponding to the code and character check system for the non-procedural terminal equipments used by itself to select data transmission reception control based on the content of the code and character check system to e registered corresponding to the identifier.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
