PURPOSE:To obtain a chromium plating stainless steel product capable of being utilized in the severe corrosive environment by performing chromium plating having specified thickness on the surface of a stainless steel product and specifying electric potential correspondent to the specified current density of a positive polarization curve in hydrochloric acid having specified concn. CONSTITUTION:Chromium plating having 0.1-1.0mum thickness is directly preformed on the surface of a stainless steel product. Electric potential 100. t.p. correspondent to 100muA/cm2 current density of a positive polarization curve in 0.25 normal hydrochloric acid (50 deg.C) is regulated to 0.5V (Ag/AgCl) or more. Chromium plating having 0.1-1.0mum thickness is performed on the surface of the stainless steel product. Hydrogen occluded in the plated layer is discharged by heating the chromium plating in the atmosphere. Thereby, the chromium plating stainless steel product excellent in pitting and crevice corrosion resistance is obtained.
