In data compression restoration treating the error control processing mode

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for re-processing of universal coding/decoding processing from the beginning by setting adjacent decoding data to object data for a prescribed period as decoding data for an error occurrence period when an error takes place at a decoder side. ;CONSTITUTION: An error processing means 25 of a decoder side equipment 2 simultaneously holds decoding data outputted from a decoding means 20 and decoding data for a prescribed period at a preceding time. When an error detection means 24 does not detect occurrence of error, decoding data outputted from the means 20 are outputted in the output order. On the other hand, when the means 24 detects occurrence of an error, the means 20 interrupts decoding processing, and the means 25 outputs decoding data while replacing the decoding data for error occurrence period with decoding data for preceding prescribed period. When an error takes place at a decoder side, the decoding processing is proceeded as it is although approximated decoding data are used for the error occurrence period.
