In the present invention, there is disclosed a guard rail (6) for guiding and/or carrying an object relatively moving with respect to the guard rail (6), particularly a sliding door (4, 5) sliding by means of rolling rollers (14). The invented guard rail (6) has a contact section (38) for partial contact with the object. During movement of the object, friction rolling and sliding takes place on the surface of the contact section (38). A sliding plastic element (34) being provided with the contact section is fastened on the guard rail (6). The invention also relates to the use of the guard rail (6) in a device for separating a space, in particular a shower enclosure (1) with at least one fixed partition wall (2, 3) as well as with at least one sliding door (4, 5) carried in the guard rail (6) attached to the fixed partition wall (2, 3). The sliding door (4, 5) is slidably mounted by means of rollers (14) rolling on the guard rail (6) on the guard rail (6).
