Traffic roundabout for junction between major and minor roads

The roundabout for a crossroads between a four lane dual carriageway (1) and a two lane road is designed for traffic driving on the right. A mirror image would be used for left hand driving. Vehicles on the major road are channelled by solid markings into two lanes (11, 12). The nearside lane for right-going and small vehicles wishing to carry-on on the major road, the off-side lane for straight on traffic, heavy vehicles and vehicles wishing to turn left. Traffic entering from the minor road has a protected channel (6) onto the major road or travels near the centre of the roundabout for other destinations. The core of the centre of the roundabout has a raised kerb and cannot be driven on. Areas on the diagonal sides of the core are available to be over-ridden by large goods vehicles.
