Ammonium salts of alkenylsuccinic monoamides of the formula I below IMAGE in which R1 is H or a C6-C18-alkenyl radical, with the proviso that the radicals R1 are not simultaneously H or a C6-C18-alkenyl radical, X is a group of the formula -NHR2 or -NR2R3 where R2 and R3 are C1-C6-alkyl, cycloalkyl or a heterocycle which is linked to the nitrogen via an alkylene chain, and A is XH or a different primary, secondary or tertiary amine, for example an alkanolamine or a polyamine, and their use as corrosion inhibitors in oil and gas production.
