System for transmission and conversion of a circular movement with a constant direction into a circular movement with alternating direction and vice versa, especially adapted to the functioning of an alternating internal-combustion engine. This system consists of a ring of preferably toothed wheels 10 that are coupled together, driven in a circular movement with alternating direction, each wheel of the aforesaid ring having fixed and superposed on it a guide path 11 travelled by one or more rollers 12 whose axle 13 is integral with a shaft 14 driven in a circular movement with constant direction. Associated with the set of wheels in the ring is a set of pistons 15 driven in a circular movement of alternating direction, which, in collaboration, define chambers of variable volumes 16, 21, 22, 23 in a closed enclosure 17, without prejudice to the fact that, as an alternative, pistons with a rectilinear movement may be used.
