A method for preparing crosslinked cation polymers and their use for the paper treatment

Proposed is an improved method of producing cross-linked cationic polymers, the method calling for a) polyaminoamides to be reacted with 5 to 30 mol %, relative to the amount of nitrogen available for quaternization, of a quaternization agent and b) the resulting quaternized polyaminoamides to be cross-linked with the number of moles of epichlorohydrin corresponding to the non-quaternized nitrogen content. The cross-linked cationic polymers are suitable for use as wet-strength resins in the treatment of paper.
