MIXTURES OF ISOMERIC DECYL ALCOHOLS, PHTHALATES OBTAINABLE THEREFROM, AND THEIR USE AS PLASTICIZERS

Mixtures of isomeric decyl alcohols are obtained byoligomerization of propylene in the presence of de-activated zeolites as catalysts, separation of theC[err]-olefins from the oligomer mixture, hydroformylation ofthe C[err]-olefins to C[err]-aldehydes, and hydrogenation of theC[err]-aldehydes. The mixtures, when esterified with phthalicacid, provide a mixture of isomeric di-decyl phthalatesthat can be used as plasticizers.
