A method and system for implementing extensionphone service within a mobile radio communicationsystem. A plurality of mobile stations (M1-M10) areassigned to a single subscriber number and a recordmaintained as to the current location of each mobilestation. In response to a call received for thesubscriber number, each mobile station (M1-M10) ispaged in the respective mobile switching center (MSC)in which it is currently located. The call isselectively routed to one of the mobile stationsresponding to the page request in accordance withpreselected criteria (31) such as, the first mobilestation to respond (32), the mobile station which isclosest to the calling party (37), etc.
