A process is disclosed for the continuous produc-tion of an ABS resin. The process includes a step ofpolymerizing 100 parts by weight of a monomer com-ponent, which is composed of a styrene monomer and anacrylonitrile monomer or of their mixture and a vinylmonomer copolymerizable with at least one of themonomers, in the presence of 4 to 50 parts by weight ofa rubbery polymer by continuous bulk and/or continuoussolution polymerization to form a polymer of themonomer component as a continuous phase and particlesof the rubbery polymer as a dispersed phase. Thepolymerization step comprises at least two substeps,one being a first-stage substep of forming particles ofthe rubbery polymer and the other a second-stage sub-step of adjusting the particle sizes of the particles.The first-stage substep is conducted in a polymeriza-tion system making use of a plug flow reactor or abatch polymerization reactor, and conducts polymeriza-tion at least until the particles are formed in thepolymerization mixture. The second-stage substep in-creases a converted amount of the monomer componentinto the polymer compared with that in the particleforming substep and makes the particles smaller. Apolycarbonate-ABS resin composition is also disclosed.
