A device (9) for detecting the success of the threading of the wire for electro-erosion machines fitted with traction elements for the wire (1) and feed contacts (6) in their lower head (3), consists of:- a) an insulation transformer (10) with the first terminal of the primary coil connected to a contact point (P2) on the guide (4) for the wire (1) downstream of and close to the traction element of the lower head (3); b) a continuous current rectifier (11) providing an alternating current voltage at the outlet of the transformer (10); and c) a comparator-amplifier (12) that collects the signal at the outlet (a) of the transformer (10) and passes it to a micro-processor (8) controlling the device for threading the wire.
