This refers to a new sensor system for remote measurement of physical and chemical parameters via optical channels that is self-powered by means of photovoltaic converters built into the system itself. It consists of a sensor unit (or head) 1 that includes the photovoltaic converter 2, a transmission channel 3 and a control console 4. The sensor unit itself is self-powered thanks to the conversion into electricity of the light that the photovoltaic converter receives. This situation enables the sensor head to be located in the desired position, absolutely independent of the distance from the control console or from any electrical power outlet; nor does it need batteries. Together with being self-powered, the other characteristic of the present Patent is its built- in nature. It is intended that the photovoltaic converter is to be constructed in monolithic form (or by means of another technology) together with any part (or all parts) of the sensor head such as the sensor itself, the data transmitter to the control console, including its associated electronics.
