Torsion arch (arc) for manufacturing cables and the manufacturing process therefor

The arch comprises a moulded element, which may be planar or pre-curved longitudinally with a curvature which is less than that for mounting in the torsion unit, and has an aerodynamic shape in the transverse direction, especially at the lateral edges, in order to reduce the air penetration coefficient. In order to manufacture it, successive layers of synthetic fibres are placed in a mould, which may or may not be precurved, with the additional arrangement of reinforcing synthetic-fibre fabrics and the supply of the binding resins, the next stage being closure of the mould, by means of a matched countermould, and curing of the resins prior to demoulding and removal of the precurved or non-precurved arch, which is fully shaped, without machining operations.
