A thermal decomposition apparatus forplastics wherein plastics are melted and thermallydecomposed, and the resulting decomposition gas iscooled for condensation and recovered in the form ofa thermal decomposition oil. The apparatus comprisesa thermal decomposition reactor for melting andthermally decomposing the plastics therein, anextraneous matter discharge duct having one end openedin a melt of plastics within the reactor, an extraneousmatter collecting container connected to the other endof the discharge duct, and an aspirator for aspiratingextraneous matter within the reactor together withthe melt through the discharge duct into the container.
