Sliding bearings for chocks (11) in back-up rolls (12) underload, the back-up rolls (12) cooperating with the respectiveworking rolls (112) and being able to perform crosseddisplacement in a four-high rolling mill stand for the hotrolling of sheet and/or large plate, the chocks (11)cooperating on the outside with organs to transmit the loadfrom the rolls to the stationary housing (21) and organs toregulate the gap between the working rolls (112), theseorgans comprising millscrews, hydraulic capsules (13),spacers, etc., the bearings comprising a hydrostatic bearing(10a) comprising one or more hydrostatic chambers or pockets(14), opening onto their lower surface, to contain and limitthe liquid, the hydrostatic chambers or pockets (14) beingseparated at the sides by limiting walls (22), thehydrostatic chambers or pockets (14) and the limiting walls(22) defining a clearance (19) with respect to the upperface of the relative chock (11), the clearance (19) beingable to be filled with fluid which has a pressure functionalto the current work step of the rolling stand.
