Removal of heavy metals from waste incineration or glass furnace residues

A method for removing heavy and/or toxic metals from the solids produced by the dry, semi-dry or semi-wet processing of waste incineration gases or glass furnace gases, is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of preferably selectively dissolving the sodium chlorides and/or sulphates present in said solid residues; separating the remaining solids in suspension in the solution; processing the resulting solution with at least one carbonate or hydroxycarbonate, at least one silicate or aluminosilicate and at least one sulphur compound and/or at least one phosphate, as the purification agents; and separating the resulting solids.
