The invention concerns a method of orientating the weft at an angle in a monoaxial laid-yarn fabric comprising wefts (3) which are joined together by wales (11) crossing the wefts (3). By advancing the fabric (1) in the form of a web around and past one or several bars (6, 13, 14, 15) forming an angle with the plane of the web, the fabric (1) is made to travel through a longer distance along one (9) of its edge portions than along its opposite edge portion (10). This causes the wefts (3) of the fabric (1) to assume an orientation at an angle. The use of such laid-yarn fabrics (1) wherein one fabric (1) having wefts (3) extending at an angle in one direction is deposited onto another fabric (1) having wefts (3) extending at an angle in the opposite direction, is advantageous in that the multi-layer fabric composed of one or several fabrics (1), when used to produce a composite object of plastics by using the mould-compression technique, exhibits excellent tensile strength in all directions while at the same time possessing excellent drapability properties.
