The invention concerns an aluminium alloy (4) for a coating, in particular for a sliding bearing (2), which is silicon-free apart from impurities necessitated by steel production and which, in addition to tin, comprises as the main alloy element in each case at least one element, on the one hand, from an element group comprising lead and bismuth and, on the other, from an element group comprising magnesium and zinc. The minimum amount of tin is 16 wt %. All the other alloy components are restricted altogether to a maximum of 11 wt %, the portion of the respective element from the element group which, in addition to lead and bismuth, also contains antimony and indium being between 10 % and 75 % of the maximum solubility of the respective element in the total tin content.
