The invention relates to a device for adjusting the height of the cover of manhole covers on roadway surfaces, for the installation of the normally ring-shaped manhole frames. Said device comprises a divided insertable part (2) with an internal thread (5), into which is screwed a cover (1) with an external thread (4), the internal thread (5) of the insertable part (2) and the external thread (4) of the cover (1) constituting a buttress thread at 45°. The insertable part (2) has a ring groove (14) for a damping device. The cover (1) forms a bevel (6) along its lower circumference. The insertable part (2) has a bevel (7) along its upper circumference. The upper part of the cover (1) is filled with concrete (11). The base frame (3) is surrounded by a protective sheet-metal lining (10). This sheet-metal lining (10) is lined with plastic sheeting on the inside (12) and outside (13).
