The invention relates to a process and to a sewing robot for sewing a flap with a raw end edge and a pocket to a piece of material in a single work process. The flap (10), in a reverse position in relation to its final position (11) (end position), and a pocket cup-up (8) are placed at a predetermined distance from one another relative to the piece of material for sewing (6) and the latter, together with the folded pocket cut-up (9) and the flap (10) are conveyed in a fixed arrangement to a sewing position (97) whereby the pocket (9) and the piece of material for sewing (6) are attached to each other by means of a seam (16). The flap (10) is then attached to the piece of material for sewing (6) by means of a fixing seam (12) and rotated around the fixing seam (12) into the final position (11) (end position) and attached to the piece of material for sewing (6) at a set distance (15) by means of a second cover seam (13).
