METHOD FOR REMOVING THREAD BURR BY CROSS COMPOUND FEEDING

A method for removing burr at screw thread ends, especially burr at the incomplete flank portion of a thread profile, by using a cutter having a straight main edge with a round tip where the radius of said round tip is smaller than or equal to the radius of flute root circle of the thread being cut, is to keep the straight main edge of cutter paralleling to the medium diameter of thread or thread axial and touching with the thread periphery or flute generatrix, and while the cutter is longitudinally fed along the original screw thread-cutting track, to make a cross feed in and out at some definite axial positions by a controlled way, so that the burrs existing in the start and end of the thread are removed.
