The method involves the public telephone network (2) in conjunction with a local radio call network (3) to send a unidirectional digital message from a fixed or mobile telephone station (1a or 1c) or a modem-connected personal computer (1b) to the vehicle (6). Here a mobile radio receiver (7) and decoder (8) are connected to an operating unit (4) which incorporates decoding and time-switch functions (9,10) as well as an input protection circuit (11) and keypad (12).
