Measuring apparatus for determining the position of the interface between two superimposed layers of immiscible liquids

Device (1) to measure the vertical position of an essentially horizontal boundary layer (18) formed between a lower liq. (17) of one density and another essentially immiscible upper liq. (19) of another density lower than that of the lower liq.. The device is esp. used to obtain the thickness of an essentially oil containing floating layer in a light material separator. There is a floating element (2) to dip into the upper and lower liqs. which has an adjustable medium density lower than that of the first density, and higher than that of the second. Indicators (4) obtain the vertical position of the floating element within the upper and lower liqs.. Also claimed is a device as above used to obtain the thickness of an upper layer on a layer of different density.
