The winding temperature display method uses a thermometer provided by a hollow measuring sensor (7) coupled to a mechanical measuring transducer (2), for operation of a mechanical temperature display, via a capillary tube (6). The hollow measuring sensor, capillary tube and measuring transducer together define a closed pressure space, filled with a measuring medium having a pressure which is dependent on the temperature of the cooling medium for the transformer, by heating it electrically in dependence on the separately measured cooling medium temperature.
