The present invention relates to a novel antiinflammatory and analgesic pharmaceutical composition containing nimerglide and to a process for its preparation. These nimelilide compositions are applied directly to the skin for treatment of inflammation through transdermal absorption to very low dose levels. Such compositions include nimerglide and a microcarrier preconcentrate or a transdermal enhancing vehicle substrate that serves as a microcarrier. The transdermal enhancing vehicle base includes a percutaneous enhancer, a surfactant, a gelling agent, and one or more vehicles / substrate.
