The present invention is applied to an emergency core cooling system (ECCS) pipe connected with RSC due to excessive thermal stress due to thermal stratification which was not considered in design due to leakage of isolation valve and check valve in nuclear power plant piping. The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for detecting thermal stratification of nuclear power plant pipes in order to prevent the accidental leakage of reactor coolant into a containment vessel by causing deformation and thermal fatigue cracks.
